I think the default behaviour should be that network problems shouldn't
block login. The exception may be a dedicated workstation with remotely
mounted home directories, where you may want it to block forever. The
current compromise of waiting 120s isn't correct for either situation.

This is a serious problem, it can affect other devices on the network
while appearing to work fine for the machine running it. It caused me
to buy and return 2 wifi routers and spend 20 hours of time debugging
the situation.
Switching to b43 on 13.04 resolved the network issues on my dell

I have a new precise install on which I have the exact same problem. The
install works, as soon as I try to do an upgrade on a server that
requires a kernel upgrade I see the above problem.
GRUB_PREFIX is not set wherever it's expected to be and this causes

next week.

I must note that reversing the order of commands achieves the correct
chain rule order (found belatedly after bug submission).
While this is documented in the man page for ufw, I suspect rate
limiting should always take precedence.

boot loader not
One of my systems which experiences the problem is running hpacucli
v8.70-8.0. The system is 64-bit. I'm running the utility using the
following command: setarch x86_64 --uname-2.6 hpacucli
Without the setarch, the utility does not detect any controllers.

Stéphane about it on IRC and was asked to try the quantal version of the
bridge-utils package. Switching to it solved all of my problems so
Stéphane pushed through the same fix to Precise.

This is the final nail in Ubuntu's coffin for me. I've been using Ubuntu
since Karmic. I think since Unity came in things have got worse. This is
a great shame. It seems with this 'solution' that no online lens
searches will be possible. How does this fit with Linux being about
choice? Why not
