Either it hasn't been fixed or it doesn't fix an already jumbled menu.
Even worse, it has messed up the alternative menu applet in EXACTLY the
same way that I was using as well.
Is there some way to refresh the menu in some way?

I don't know how important but I thought I better report it. On doing a
apt-get autoremove it removes linux-image-extra-3.18.0-8-generic and
linux-image-generic and then gives an error:

I just did a completely clean install of Vivid and after installing
gnome-flashback and logging into it all the programs that are supposed
to be in the "Administration" and "Preferences" sub folders of "System
