I hit the same problem with this. Again, I only set up a small number
of machines (I do a single lesson in using Linux once a year) but wanted
an unattended setup for the 18 machines.
Currently, I'm working around this problem by creating a preseed file
(based on the ubuntu.seed in the 'preseed'
I'm having the same problem. From what I've read (although I haven't
tried yet) I think the card needs kernel 2.6.25 or above aswell as
alsa-1.10.17 or above. In theory, Ubuntu 8.10 (sporting kernel 2.6.27)
should address this issue.
