So as Jason said ... Java and wine get a pass ... for how long?
And Jakob is right ... enterprise LTS users can stay on 12.04 for the
next years; but there are other enterprise users who will want to update
on a regular base; and not all of them might want to add yet another ppa
to fix this.

If whitelisting stays disabled ... unity turns useless for me and the other
ubuntu users in our company.
We will either turn to kubuntu/xubuntu ... or Redhat or Windows. If that is

getting the ATI cards to work on that project. He took another route

pre-req for running BOINC. OK, then we need something in the install to
ask if it's going to run on a server w/o a GUI (leave as is) or in a

Yup controlling a freshly installed remote v10.04 x64 machine gets one
screen then no updates/control until I go turn of effects on the remote
machine (ATI fglrx from ATI, HD5830). Local machine's (v9.10 x64)
Compiz and Nvidia prop drivers on local desktop seem to make no
difference.

WOW! Guys I just downloaded the Berkeley package and ran it's script
which installs into /home/skip/BOINC (skip being my user account).

detach/re-attach from BAM :-(

Same problem after upgrade of Xubuntu from v8.04LTS to V10.04LTS (64b).
Moved v6.10.56 binaries to /usr/bin and resolved.

Problem affected us as well: latest kernel produces black screen in
virt-manager when launching a kvm virtual machine, works fine in qemu
mode. previous kernel shows no such problems.

What means 'nothing in /proc...'?
And - what policykit-1 ist doing?

Since the upgrade from intrepid to lucid, the energyprofiles in KDE dont
work properly on my lenovo T60.
Whenever a new profile is activated, display goes to lowest brightness.
When I use the function keys I can dim brighter, but the onscreen
