I'm hitting this bug too, and so far working around it by going to Edit
connections - Edit the network you want to connect to - manually input
the WPA2 password in the Wi-Fi Security tab - Save, then it connects
without problems.

@Snake, have you tried dealing with alsamixer?
In my case, opening alsamixer and hitting F4 shows me the recording
controls, one of which lets me choose between input sources, using the
up and down arrow keys.
To open just type alsamixer into a console, without the quotes. Then
navigate with arrow

Bad Compiz Bindings Bug
Same problem here, HP Pavillion tx1000, upgraded to Lucid from Karmic.
When I turn on the machine it starts fine, but if I disable the touchpad
with the hardware button, and then re-enable it again, it won't come
back.
I managed to make it work again with workaround #42 , great, thanks!
Why was
@pauljohn32
Hi,
something -did- change in the repository. 3 days ago a branch was merged, which
doesn't include autotools build system (i guess this change relates to current
compiz development)
So you are no longer able to compile this easily, with last git
snapshot.
You've got 2 options

I agree with you that Alt+click is just a workaround, not a solution, but at
least for me it's a really effective workaround.
I almost never bother with window borders or grippies, because I got so used to

Hi, same problem here.
I'm on a HP Pavillion tx1499us

Just to note, IIRC, this bug affects me since Karmic, when g-v-c had its
gui changed to the current one.
If further info is needed I'll be glad to provide it

Thanks a lot for the feedback!
It seems a pretty straightforward procedure at last, but if you can list here
the packages you needed to install, that would be great for the next one who
wants to try the patch
so far we've got compiz-dev libcompizconfig0-dev build-essential
Cheers!

@AbtZ
Thanks for the ampersand tip :)
Without the it effectively locks the terminal (not just for you, heh), I
just used two terminals but the ampersand is a cleaner way to do it.
I think this is what called community collaboration, really enjoying
it :D

Bad Compiz Bindings Bug
@Omar, AbtZ
Patch was commited upstream :D
http://git.compiz.org/fusion/compizconfig/compizconfig-backend-gconf/commit/?id=74c3fd404f0879b5d36c1167d0b43986d949fad4
So now you only need to clone the last revision, no need to apply the
patch
$ git clone
Hi everyone,
After some googling I found this excellent clarification on the issue:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Input_device_configuration#xorg.conf.d
(it's from fedora but applies exactly to ubuntu too, since both distros follow
the same linux fs hierarchy guidelines)
Basically it says

@Omar,
Hi, thanks for your interest!
I indeed missed a step in the instructions, sorry for that.

Hi everyone,
i'm currently working on a patch to address this. It's rough and unfinished
(doesn't properly detect in real time when the gconf value is changed) but it
works.
** Patch added: Unfinished patch to honour resize_with_right_button
** Attachment added: Fix the gconf-backend: swap buttons according to

Done, it's working fine for me. It reads the

One more thing, this https://bugs.launchpad.net/compiz/+bug/495135 is
AFAIK a duplicate of this bug, but i'm not sure which one should be
flagged as dup... since this one is older and had more activity, but the
newer one is confirmed, nominated and assigned.
Can someone give some advice/action on
I've posted a patch in bug
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/207065 fixing this

for the meantime i'm crossposting
Will welcome feedback on patch testing.

Alt+right click window resize with compiz
@david.hilton.p I've made a patch for the gconf integration backend, so
that it honours the resize_with_right_button gconf key. This solves some
aspects of this bug. Feel free to check it out and give feedback - if it
works, you'll be helping in the process of getting it included upstream
:)
Experienced the same problem and trials as the original poster. I didn't
know about the --no-migration-assistant option, so i just ran on a
console grub-install --root-directory=/target/ /dev/sda and will now
reboot (i'm writing this while still on the live cd).
