This is pretty annoying, and still the case with todays proposed... Any
news? Anyone assigned? So again I can confirm the bug as well as the
'work around'.

Hi, the suggested solution from iMac didn't work for me, the problem
persists with todays proposed for 11.10.
When I kill e-addressbook-factory and reopen contacts in evolution, then
they finally show.

Hi David!
Ok, I did not yet experience that, but haven't tried explicitly either. As I
hardly ever switch between users in a session, I would still see the problem as
solved for me presonally, so I'll probably not follow that thread very closely
from now on.
But as I'm an Ubuntu enthusiast,
Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: pulseaudio
For some reason and all of a sudden (I guess after an update) my sound
stopped to work. Seems that the system can't find the sound hardware.
Hardware works fine on WinXP (Dual Boot System).

Hi There!
After some more reading and searching the Internet I found out, that it
was a problem of user rights. I had to add the User to the Group Audio,
an then it worked.
I don't know whether it ist reproducable, but I had a user created xy,
fairly standard. Then I created a guest user.
can be solved by adding user to group audio
