While testdrive-gtk is running, clicking and setting the Preferences
would make the program unresponsive. need to kill the program and
restart.
Or the Preferences menu item could be grayed out if it's a known issue.

Kronos: xcp-xapi.init should
Just installed xcp-xapi on top of a xen installation, and had to run:
update_rc.d xendomains disable
update-rc.d openvswitch-switch disable (I chose 'bridge' in the post install
configuration)

run winecfg, under Graphics tab, uncheck all the checkboxes (guess no
need to uncheck all of them, but for simplicity's sake)

Binary package hint: fcitx
I'm using ubuntu 9.10 and a new fcitx install doesn't work before
tweaking. (the input bar doesn't show chinese characters correctly). I
need to change the $HOME/.fcitx/config line 2 from:
显示字体(中)=*
to:
显示字体(中)=WenQuanYi Bitmap Song
to get it
