I've tested this and can confirm the fix. I did the following:
* Booted a Hardy Live CD (in vbox), installed and launched oem-config
and confirmed that I could close it in mid-pre-install causing badness

We often suggest that people update their system fully at the current
version before running dist-upgrade (in particular to get the latest

AFAICS, this is a missing feature (configuration option) in virt-manager
but possible on the command lie with kvm with a combination of -cdrom

I have observed this as well. I'm sure you can change the wallpaper by

I performed an upgrade test from dapper to hardy yesterday with a clean
(and updated) standard dapper desktop install. All went well.
I then went back to the dapper vbox image and added as much bloat and
cruft as I could inorder to

Bryce, I'm attaching my current Xorg.0.log, but I'm not sure how useful
it will be as I haven't had the crash for a few weeks. I'll remove the
work-around and try to trigger the crash again this weekend (it's on my
main work box, and I don't want to do it while working).

We now ship the Vinagre VNC client by default and I actually no longer
see this problem in either Vino or Vinagre. You sometimes get asked if
you want to disable sticky keys,but that is just a minor nuisance.
