@Aldo Yes, you can fix it even on 14.04. You can download this new
package from http://packages.ubuntu.com/vivid/bcmwl-kernel-source and
install it directly typing: dpkg -i bcmwl-kernel-source_6.30.223.248
+bdcom-0ubuntu2_amd64.deb and then it should be ok. Package has not any
other dependencies

Come on! Why this is not in the newest Xubuntu? I upgraded whole system
just to get this repaired. It is so annoying that I can't use tethering
with my phone only because of this little bug and releasing it's fix
takes ages!

The patch is there only for debugging a hard to catch crash. It should
go away after two cycles tops (I need to bump it to beta, since there
are no crash-stat data from aurora (alfa)). The patch will also (very
soon) land on aurora release channel.

I have tried Pablo's link. Headphone audio works great. Speakers work
fine. Internal and jack microphones don't work at all. I've tried
changing that one line in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf to several
different options to no avail. A speedy fix for this would be much
appreciated.

I upgraded Kubuntu from gutsy to hardy alpha 5 and later on I installed
a fresh Kubuntu beta 6 and I had the same problem. So I dont think it
is gnome related ...
