Same problem. Xorg SEGV upon xfce login from GDM after upgrade from
9.04 to 9.10.
Setting SWcursor to true as indicated in earlier posts prevents the
crash. Xorg.log and backtrace attached.

Hmm. Although I do have a flash plugin installed, it is disabled so I
would expect this to not affect the situation. Regardless, I will
uninstall the plugin.

For those of you that still has this problem, here is a temporary
workaround until it gets fixed.
During the process of verifying some code in the synaptic.c that looks
questionable, I stumbled upon the fact that if I uninstalled the
xserver-xorg-input-synaptics package, my Alps touchpad on my
To reproduce:
Start Gimp and create a new document.
Move the mouse cursor slowly horizontally and watch the column number change.
The column number skips every 3rd or 4th pixel . i.e.
9,11,12,14,15,16,18,19,21. The cursor appears a bit jumpy due to the
discontinuities.
