I tested kernel 3.2.1 and saw no improvement in power consumption, even
with i915_enable_fbc and i915_enable_rc6 set.
There are two commits tagged against the upstream bug (#38332). One
makes a change and the other reverts it.
I don't think this bug is fixed.

I don't see what difference creating a new bug makes. At the end of the
day, the package in the repository is broken. It should be fixed or
removed altogether. I don't care if some other piece of software on the
Internet happens to work.

Yep, for 2.6.30 I used the PPA linked above.
Since the last update, I've been running the 2.6.29 kernel linked on
'Jaunty Intel Graphics Performance Guide'

OK, I've had three crashes in the last hour. The actions I was doing during
these were:
- 2x browsing through lightboxed images in Firefox
- closing a tab in Firefox
Usually, the mouse pointer hangs too. During one of these crashes, it

After using this for a few more weeks, I've found that I can boot using
the default kernel parameters ('noacpi') eventually if I leave the
machine alone. It'll reboot repeatedly and eventually it'll succeed.
Generally this means that I do something else for an hour or use another
computer.
