I've a workaround,
You can change the session language before call to duplicity
declare -x LANG=en_US.UTF-8
It work for me, my default LANG is es_ES.UTF-8, and duplicity fails.
With en_US.UTF-8 works.

There is a workaround:
That is what I did at the end I installed without recommends.
Edit the file /etc/apt/apt.conf file and add the following contents to
it:

I'd like to point out that this is not window manager specific. I've
been encountering this bug with awesome as my window manager (with a
custom GNOME 2 session, where panel is set to '' and window manager is
set to 'awesome'). If I remove Assistive Technologies from the startup

I too have this problem, but have been able to sort of work around it.
This might give some clues to the podsleuth devs on why things are
happening as they are. My suspicion is that there is some sort of race
condition between podsleuth and devkit-disks.
First, to be able to have podsleuth

Installing podsleuth and adding user haldaemon to group plugdev resolved
the issue for me.
As a point of comparison, a laptop I own had a similar issue, and
installing podsleuth fixed things. This laptop was originally installed
with Edgy, which was then upgraded to Feisty (on Feisty release)
It seems that the problem is in libgalago1.0-cil -- the package doesn't
include the .installcligac needed, and so the package doesn't install
into the GAC. The quick fix is to copy an existing .installcligac in
/usr/share/cli-common/package.d, edit to point to the galago-sharp DLL,
then run
A better workaround is to run:
xrandr --output LVDS --dpi $DPI
with a sane value for DPI, e.g.
xrandr --output LVDS --dpi 100
especially if you need to view a PDF and don't want to or can't restart
yet.

Re: Reinhard: This is in connection with NetworkManager -- I can't use
wpa_supplicant ap_scan because NetworkManager drives wpa_supplicant
directly! (NOTE: Again, the problem is in wpasupplicant itself, not
NetworkManager.)

Can't associate with AP (madwifi, WEP, hidden SSID)
Related: NetworkManager seems to be now using AP_SCAN=2; on edgy,
NetworkManager was sending AP_SCAN=1 (looking at /var/log/daemon.log).
Should I file this bug under NetworkManager now?

Previously, I was able to associate with our office AP on Edgy; the
office AP has a hidden SSID (i.e. configured not to broadcast SSID), and
with a 128-bit WEP key (hex). Attempting to associate with the AP via
NetworkManager or via
As an aside, my coworker's laptop running Edgy has a ipw3945-based card
and he also couldn't associate. I'll see if I can run the above test on
his laptop.
