I have had this problem constantly, for several years, in both
OpenOffice and LibreOffice, on multiple consecutive versions of Ubuntu.
Paste Special works for a while, and then mysteriously stops working
(whether invoked by hotkey or menu). The only workaround is to close all
open documents and
It's been six months since this bug was reported, its importance remains
undecided, and fixing it remains unassigned. This is a problem. Whenever
my machine is disconnected from wi-fi for a few hours, it is faster to
reboot than to close the dozens of nm-applet authentication windows

Please reopen this bug. This has been a problem for a long time, and
affects both OpenOffice and LibreOffice, on multiple different versions
of Ubuntu (up to and including Natty).
I can't count the number of times I've had to restart Writer to get

What I also did was install the Mozilla version of Firefox 2.0.0.8, and

I have no idea. It must be either -gnome-en or -en, whichever OOo picks
by default. I have no other language packs installed, though my location
is set to Johannesburg, South Africa, which may have an impact.

OOo fails to open without removing default language packs
Public bug reported:
I installed Ubuntu Edgy, which includes OOo 2.0.4 running under Gnome 2.16.1. I
did not install any special language support, but the defualt -en packages were
there. I did install other software, but nothing that should affect either OOo
or language support.
