I confirm that bug. Also, it applies to all of the style buttons: Bold,
Italics, and Underline. You can work around it by typing the text
normally then highlighting and clicking a button, but that is annoying
workaround if you are in a hurry.

In the following workaround the pressing of [CTRL+B/I/U] is indicated by
the brackets:
[CTRL+B] bold is on [CTRL+B] bold is off [CTRL+B] bold fails
I am experiencing a similar problem using Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy Gibbon
