1. I go to Dash | Network | Network proxy where I set up my proxy.
2. Go to a terminal and say wget www.google.com, this works.
3. type sudo apt-get update
4. See that apt-get update does not use the proxy setting that wget uses.
5. edit /etc/apt/apt.conf:

Hi,
The installation of Linux on a brand new laptop is an incredible opportunity to
waste a lot of time...especially for a unrecoverable geek like me. I had a
strange behavior on my eeePC 1015PX with respect to power management and more
particularly with ASUS's Super
message (see below).
I Googled this and found that other users experimented similar behavior
after a huge point to point transfer. I know this is a rather weak hint
for a bug hunt, but maybe it will raise a bell to someone...

1° no desktop effects is the default choice after a fresh install.
2° If compiz fall back into metacity you have no other choise.
So as natural this is the test i have done. And it's don't work
because even if you ask No visual effect compiz try to do some test at
gnome start up.
I have the same problem with a Samsung N150 Netbook.
When trying to come back from suspend, the screen just stays dark. I am
unable to get to any kind of terminel, either by hitting ctrl-alt-del or
