I have the same problem after upgrading to kubuntu 14.04 (akonadi-server
1.12.1).
How do I get akonadi console to run when any attempt to start it causes the
conversion to run and it therefore fails?

My workaround was to remove .kde restart kde virtually from scratch.
:-( but kept a backup :-)
This am I download QT pkgs (4.8.3+dfsg-0ubuntu3.2~ubuntu12.10~ppa1) and tried
with old .kde folder.
