Here's some more useful information from a recent freeze. This time, the
system didn't lock up completely, but I still wasn't able to correctly
shut it down:

I think the dependencies are messed up, and in trying to handle that
Ubuntu phases out PyXML, ofdb.py was patched incorrectly. This is my

Interesting, this indeed seems to be user-specific problem. Logging in with a
fresh user works fine. I already tried disabling all kind of stuff, like things
being loaded through .profile and .bashrc, disabling desktop effects, to no
avail.
Any idea how I can further track down which setting or
WTF? I renamed .kde/ and logged in again, and that indeed fixed the problem.
Then I moved the directory back to .kde, logged in again, and now all my kde
settings are gone??? F***!
Not only did I loose all my settings, I can't tell you which setting exactly
was causing the problems either.
Might be related to #366300 which also affects multi-monitor setups and
the latest intel driver.

The new kernel finally showed up and indeed seems to fix the standby/suspend
problems, with only a few minor glitches. I'm mentioning them here just in
case, though they might be unrelated:
- After resuming I get a message that a new monitor has been detected. When
opening the KDE dialog for

cycle, the display stayed blank, even though X/KDE seem to have been back,
judged by the LED activity. Alt-Ctrl-Backspace got it back, but in the wrong
resolution. After that, all further standby/resume cycles worked

I see the same error, but with a different backtrace:

No /etc/ld.so.conf.d/xen.conf containing hwcap 0 nosegneg isn't missing.
The output of ldconfig -p even lists the xen libraries including there
hwcap flags(?).
What seems to fail is the identification of the nosegneq hwcap, but i
have no idea how to verify this.
