Acer Aspire 5253-BZ480. Same symptoms. Tried Ctrl+Alt+F1 or F8 or Backspace. No effect. Tried to use tty1 via Ctrl+Alt+F1, user, pass, eject: tray did not eject, therefore keyboard not working? Tried leaving xterm as root open with typed command for xset dpms force on/off; no effect. Suspend, wake, monitor dark. Alt+SysRq+REISUB restarts machine successfully at this point. Pings sent before suspend returned; pings after wake (to dark monitor) are unsuccessful.
