I have since established that my VDPAU setting was wrong. I have an
NVidia 8400 card and had the setting set to VDPAU high quality not VDPAU
normal.

Hi David,
S U C C E S S.I did everything as you described above and it worked.
1. Download the driver RTL8192se
2. Download the patch
3. Patch the file with patch -p0rtl8192se
4. Logged in as Root (Sudo SU did not work for me)
5. Make
6. Make Install
7. modprobe r8192se_pci (to activate
