I wrote a script to automatically edit a crontab across a fleet of machines.
The script works something like this:
ex $crontab << EOT
wq!
EOT
I set EDITOR to point at that script, and then run "crontab -e", only to
find that the program says "No modification
Actually I was wrong: The windows get scrambled every time you change
the amount of available screen space by either adding or removing
monitors.

- two 1920x1080 monitors, one in portrait orientation, the other in landscape.
One of them is the
built-in laptop monitor.
- one 3840x2160 monitor.
