[Bug 209474] Re: [ooo-build] [intrepid] Speadsheet has problems in hardy

2008-04-23 Thread Jim Hutchinson
Fair enough if it can't be in the hardy release, but why not add it to the updates that invariably come a week or so after release? This isn't a small error. Anyone using frequencies will get wrong results. We pretty much have blind faith in the calculating power of computers. This will cause

[Bug 209474] Re: [Upstream] [hardy] Speadsheet has problems in hardy

2008-04-21 Thread Jim Hutchinson
According to the OO.o site (http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=88477) this bug has been fixed and only affected ooo-build trunk. Has this fix made it's way to Hardy? I'm guessing no as I have an updated hardy and it is most definitely still a problem. This really undermines ones

[Bug 199522] Re: Dim on idle does not brighten with activity

2008-04-10 Thread Jim Hutchinson
Ted, I actually wondered about that but my only other experience with a computer dimming when idle is OSX and as far as I can tell it isn't that smart. Good to know Ubuntu is smarter. Thanks for the effort. Out of curiosity, are the adjustments to the timing permanent or session based? In other

[Bug 209474] Re: [Upstream] [hardy] Speadsheet has problems in hardy

2008-04-09 Thread Jim Hutchinson
Mike, that is my experience too. I've used it in OSX (well it's NeoOffice there), windows and Ubuntu Gutsy and Hardy and only in Hardy do I see it. I don't know much about spreadsheets so it was just happenstance that I found this and recognized that something was wrong. -- [Upstream] [hardy]

[Bug 199522] Re: Dim on idle does not brighten with activity

2008-04-09 Thread Jim Hutchinson
I'd be happy to give it a try but could you explain a bit how to do it? I suspect I have to add your PPA to my sources.list, update and upgrade but I'm a bit leery about doing it that way as I may get more than just this one change and tracking could be harder. Is there a simple way to just update

[Bug 199522] Re: Dim on idle does not brighten with activity

2008-04-09 Thread Jim Hutchinson
Yes, this is an improvement. thanks. When the display dims on inactivity, resuming activity brightens the screen. However, the display does not dim on inactivity regularly. While testing this it would dim after maybe 30 secs to a min. After a few cycles it stopped dimming. Maybe I need to wait

[Bug 214061] Re: Brightness with laptop on hardy dims when inactive but doesn't brighten again

[Bug 210419] Re: Human murrine removed?

2008-04-02 Thread Jim Hutchinson
I thought Hardy was going to move to murrine as the default engine - a decision I thought was a good one. If so, wouldn't human-murrine be the default theme? -- Human murrine removed? https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/210419 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu

[Bug 204097] Re: When fsck fails, the machine reboots and does the check again

2008-03-30 Thread Jim Hutchinson
Yep. Same here. My system had errors and then got into an endless reboot pattern - or I suspect would have been endless if I hadn't stopped it. I booted the live CD and ran fsck. Attached is the output of the check showing the errors. To be honest, I find it hard to believe that so many errors

[Bug 191708] Re: gnome-appearance-properties crashed with SIGSEGV in gnome_theme_meta_info_compare()

Thomas, I can verify that it happened for me with the default theme. I cannot verify that it's the same error. On a clean install of Hardy (both beta and alpha 6), opening the theme manager (settings - prefs - appearance) caused a crash window to open when trying to change the theme. I don't

[Bug 205949] Re: auto-complete in gnome-terminal dont work (TAB)

I think this is a bug. I can reproduce the exact same thing in hardy beta. With sudo as part of the command, tab completion does not work. This is a regression from 7.10. How do we reactive it? I don't think I have the ability to remove the question, nor does that seem like an ideal solution for
