I just double-checked the boot logfiles: the error message "hub 1-0.1-0: unable

After upgrading to Ubuntu 8.10, I had the same problem with my desktop.
What solved the problem for me in the end was to reinstall the NetworkManager
package.

Still didn't work automatically for me:
I upgraded my Hardy AMD64 Server installation via apt-get dist-upgrade. After
that, there was still only the old module dm-raid4-5.ko in
/lib/modules/2.6.24-18-server/ubuntu/md (and yes, I performed at least one

to the modules.dep would have done the trick, but in the meantime I have
installed Hardy AMD64 server ... when I do a modprobe dm-raid45, I get
