I am now running Hardy Heron. Since my last post I've also bought a
router and thus nolonger have my Ubuntu box acting as router/firewall,
it's purley a client with one internal ip now.
The symptoms is nolonger that the entire system gets unresponsive, now
it's only nautilus that stops responing.
I'm also experiencing this problem.

I think the problem had to do with my configuration of daemontools. It
was configured to respawn at all runlevels making it impossible to
unmount. So I have sinced fixed the issue by fixing that.

Just a heads up. The config file I posted earlier will lead to poroblems
with unmounting on shutdown.
The following should be more correct.

I think one way to go about this it to show a system monitor at install
(graphical boot could do with one too). You know the kind that is at the
top of bootchart images.

Hmm, reading the section of disabling operation I guess you could have
misunderstood me. I wasn't referring to the common complaint about
removing functionality or what ever. I meant that buttons and menu
entries are greyed out.

I was just trying to provide some background to help track down the
underlying problem.
In any case, it doesn't seem possible to take a screenshot while having
a menu shown. But just hit the View-menu and you should see what I'm
talking about. There are two disabled entries: Normal Size and Stop.
I'm not saying the it's a bad thing to communicate the fact that the
operation won't have any noticeable effect. I AM saying that I don't
like the interface remove options just because. So some other way of
communicating the same information would be good.

When booting grub complains about inconsistent file system and I have to
boot in rescue mode to replay journal.

I upgraded from edgy to feisty. The new liferea (1.2.7) has a new way of
showing new posts as a popup (libnotify?) that is not as informative as
the version in edgy.

This modules is also needed for wirless on AOpen 1557GLS. The
'dmidecode' thing doesn't seem to produce any usefull information for
this hardware though.

When replacing sysvinit with upstart maybe there should be some loud
noice about inittab nolonger being parsed.
It took me a while to understand why my dns service didn't work anymore
after an edgy upgrade.

doesn't parse /etc/inittab as this line
