I just upgraded a 12.04 to 14.04.1 and discovered my server now boots
three instances of dhcpd, one with -6, which dies because there is no
config file for it, and two instances of -4, one reading from
/etc/dhcp/dhcpd.conf, and the other from /etc/dhcp3/dhcpd.conf.
From my reading, it appears the

'^$' | wc -l
I get 576, but I expect to get 0. This unexpected blank line is causing 3rd
party apps such as transcriber, vim macros, etc to

I should clarify that the spurious blank lines are not the blank lines
aspell produces when it has processed an entire line of input; those are
expected. What I'm seeing is a blank line in response to, for example,
the word 'it', and getting a blank back instead of a '*' as expected.

The samba-common.postinst maintainer script is sourcing debconf's
confmodule in the middle of the script. Moving this line to the top of
the .postinst script fixes the error and samba-common now installs
properly.
