[Bug 661684] [NEW] Segfault when calling register without arguments

2010-10-16 Thread Josef Spillner
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: linphone Apparently VoIP is a difficult domain (see #661683). Given that Ekiga doesn't work, I tried linphone with the following result: $ linphonec [...] Ready linphonec register Segmentation fault ** Affects: linphone (Ubuntu) Importance:

[Bug 533705] [NEW] Connection closed, retrying on Packages.bz2 files

2010-03-07 Thread Josef Spillner
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: apt-proxy This tool (the Karmic version) doesn't seem to get the caching of package information files right. When I run debootstrap over apt-proxy once, using ftp.de.debian.org as a backend, the directory /var/cache

[Bug 533705] Re: Connection closed, retrying on Packages.bz2 files

2010-03-07 Thread Josef Spillner
Another observation in combination with debootstrap: The Release file was taken from the cache, and therefore the size and MD5 sum of Packages.bz2 didn't match anymore as it changed on the server and was always retrieved from there. This causes debootstrap to fail. Looks like a direct effect of

[Bug 533736] [NEW] Seeding not possible with empty strings

2010-03-07 Thread Josef Spillner
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: debconf When debconf records an empty string, it treats it essentially the same as an unconfigured string. The reason for this is most likely that the value is written as the last value of each selection line, and that for empty strings these lines end

[Bug 533736] Re: Seeding not possible with empty strings

2010-03-07 Thread Josef Spillner
After some investigation, I've come to the conclusion that the issues are not with the empty strings in debconf and hence this report should be closed again. Rather, there are two separate issues for one of which I might file another report: * MySQL itself doesn't treat the empty string

[Bug 533981] [NEW] Lacks integration with upstart

2010-03-07 Thread Josef Spillner
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: rcconf In Ubuntu (karmic), running rcconf or update-rc.d is not enough to prevent a service from starting up at boot time. Instead, service file names need to be modified in /etc/init/ to not end in *.conf anymore. This somehow mixes implementation

[Bug 533369] Re: Fails to debootstrap squeeze chroot due to missing apt-get

2010-03-07 Thread Josef Spillner
You can easily reproduce it by adding --variant=buildd to the deboostrap command. This is what pbuilder uses. The debootstrap command itself will work, but it won't have apt-get in it and therefore pbuilder or other tools which assume the presence of apt will fail. To reproduce the failure of
