I have the same problem. I updated my system from ubuntu 9.04 to 9.10.
And I change the visualization effect to normal. For some reason it
crashed and I had the same windows without decoration and title bar as
Fabio. I can type metacity in a terminal then everything becomes normal.
But if I close t
Now, after today's update. If I run the python script to use mayavi2,
the desktop change normal visual effects to none automatically.

The file that can produce this error on my machine is attached. I can
see the visualization but every time when I draw something using
mayavi2, it showed me this message. By the way, this bug exists before I
update to 9.10 from 9.04.

I just update to 9.10 today and still have this problem. Luckily, this
is easily fixed by using ar's method. Thanks!
