Same problem on a Macbook 5,5 but worked on a previous Macbook 5,5 that
I loaded on the weekend. I suspect it was because the PC hung during the
enabling of the Broadcom STA. I've attached /var/log/jockey.log.

yes, Kate version 3.3.2 still has this problem. It was there in Jaunty
as well. I am happy to help in any way regarding replicating this bug.

I have this same problem but also solved it by leaving randrtray
running. this does achieve the resolution change, but leaves the plasma
bar at the previous resolution, so i have to resize it each boot.
