I have give the wrong package name, the package name in Kubuntu/Ubuntu is xserver-xorg-video-vesa. The problem appears in Jaunty, with package version 2.0.0-1u. And it appeared on Intrepid as well, but I don't remember the package version. -- VESA ignores video mode 1680x1050

Besides the libkateinterfaces.so.0, kscope also links agaist libkateutils.so.0, and no libkateutils exists in Intrepid, at least in my installation. It seems to me that although kscope depends on KDE3 libraries, it has not made that specific in it's 'requires' packages. Either building it against
