At that point, the installation halted for several hours, I think I left it running overnight, and so I killed the process manually in order to get it to move on. It stopped again when updating LIRC, so I did the same with the intention of trying to update these packages later. I did then try to

With Emmet's help (thanks for that!), I tested 1.5.6-0ubuntu1, and unfortunately it did not fix the problem. In summary, the gamepad axis' (two analogue thumb controls and the 4/8-way directional pad) works fine until I try to calibrate it in jscalibrator. Then the axis's stop working. They start
