I have trouble installing the original Brother drivers. I will investigate in that and provide more information later. But I can confirm that the switch between the letter-format and the A4-format worked just fine in Feisty and Gutsy with the drivers from the brother website. --

The command sudo chmod 777 /usr/Brother/inf/brMFC5440* did not do anything. Also when all ubuntu packages are removed. The Brother mfc5440cnlpr-1.0.2-1.i386.deb -package installed just fine. But the Brother cupswrapper-package gives this error: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo dpkg -i --force-all

After playing around a little bit more with the ubuntu-package and editing the file /usr/Brother/inf/brMFC5440CNre manually and setting PaperType=A4 instead of PaperType=Letter it works like expected and the test page is actually printed using A4. So that's where the Problem lies. Will try to

Confirming (again) that it works fine with a Brother MFC 5440CN on a freshly installed Alpha 6 (including all updates). The only thing is that I can only print in the letter format but not in A4 even though I changed it in the cups webconfig (localhost:631) and also in system-config-printer.

Just for the record on my Asus M2400N Centrino Laptop besides the problem with the extra keys, there is no sound, suspend, hibernate either. I guess that is due to the acpi=off boot option. I also really hope this gets fixed soon so I'll be able to test Fesity. I never encountered these
