Nice and fair. I propose though that system-cleaner come with some kind
of warning so that users will know better than just click away and
regret.

This is to me a matter of preference, and with all due respect, your
preference for uming does not make you more representative than the
poll. The way to go is to raise the publicity of the poll so we can get
more representative results, and then make the most popular default,

Sorry to mention that it still crashes most of the time, although it is now a
panel applet. Next time I see it crash, I'll take note of the crash report.
I don't think it's a Ubuntu bug though, as Glipper crashes on me in Arch in the
same way.

What beta version? 169.09 and 169.12 are both fine for me.
This issue is not only an Ubuntu one, as it also happens on Arch
(http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=41869) and I solved the
problem almost the same way I did with Ubuntu.

That's funny. I've tried every icon set I have, but all display the zip
file with an icon for text.
I'm using the latest Hardy from upgrade.
Anything wrong with the MIME type though? It is 'application/x

I'm not sure, but I'm using a Dell Vostro 1400 with no customization,

I am no programmer, but your solution seems quite similar to the 'work-

for me. I'm using kernel 2.6.24-11-generic.

Oops... I might have answered too quickly.
It is the action of enabling/disabling icon texts, rather than the status of
icon texts, that causes the icons to show up.
With 'show icon text' enabled, close the application, and reopen it, you'll
still get no icons; but than you disable the option, ic

And you'll get all the icons. It is not pretty, but should serve as a
workaround.

I upgraded to the new header today, and after system restart there was no sound

I booted back to 2.6.24-3, and sound was working fine, so I assume that the
problem is with the kernel update.
