grub2 pc beta 1.97 failed to install following an update and eventual
reboot of my system. My computer is a Toshiba Satellite L505D-S5983
with AMD Athlon Dual Core processor

In this case, it has nothing to do with mute. I just can't get any
sound at all from any of the applications, whether Firefox, Amarok, or
whatever else. There is no sound, period. Problem goes a bit deeper
than mute, I'm afraid.
