First downgraded the following with negative results:

Then downgraded to the following with positive results:
> compiz1:0.9.12.2+16.04.20160526-0ubuntu1
> compiz-core 1:0.9.12.2+16.04.20160526-0ubuntu1
> compiz-gnome 1
