I have the same issue. I'm using Ubuntu 9.10 Desktop 64bit with Rhythmbox
0.12.5. I think the initial wording is a little confusing. Basically All of
my audio files are on a NAS device and I play the files in Rhythmbox via Samba.
Ex. smb//192.168.0.200/audio. When I play my play list it intermittently
stops in the middle of a song, with a "Playback Error - icon", skips the next
song and most times will play the new song and other time pause itself. This
is highly annoying of course and is definitely a bug. I'm a network engineer
and I exported the play-list and tested it with VLC and this problem did not
occur, but VLC isn't close to Rhythmbox as an audio organizer/player. Of
course Rhythmbox is the best audio app that I'm aware of and would love for
this to work. Also to note it is not artist dependent. It seems to be a bug.
I attempted to increase the Network buffer but this has no affect, I even
enable cross-fading and still same issue. Another note is that it is
intermittent so a song that it failed on will not necessarily happen the next
time you play the play-list. So it seems that Rhythmbox has an issue at least
in Ubuntu.
Thank you.
