As far as I can tell, and also according to comments and the entry on
the WINE AppDB
(http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=versioniId=2739 ), it
has not made its way upstream yet.

Like I said, more than a kernel issue or a sane issue it's a libusb
issue, because it can't handle suspend/resume. Has anyone tried
contacting the libusb developers?

You received this bug
It is *not* a problem of the specific backend, as the snapscan backend
(as I already stated) is affected too. It looks like a bug in libusb
instead, which doesn't handle usb suspend correctly.

It is more low-level of a problem, as the snapscan backend is affected
too (BenQ 640BU).

Public bug reported:
Since upgrading to Feisty I'm unable to scan properly using SANE. My
scanner is an Acer (now BenQ) 640BU: it uses the snapscan backend and
requires a firmware upload.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Connect the scanner
2. Open kooka or xsane
3. Do a preview scan

Upgrading as I'm writing this. When I first activated it, the dist-

At the end of the upgrade, the update tool reported an error with dpkg, but
only printed out the last line of the error, making it rather uninformative.
Also, there is only the Report bug button and the process will not go further
if the window isn't closed.
Other than that, no other errors
Upstream has removed the dependency from tetex regarding kile's
documentation, so the next version of kile should support both tetex and
texlive:

However, as I pointed out in an earlier comment, the problem also
resides within kdvi (as bug #76969 points
I confirm this on a MSI MS-7235 P965 Neo Series motherboard. Currently
the only options are to either disable both USB keyboard and mouse
support, or to disable IOAPIC in the BIOS (but you will use just one
core).

There are recommends in kdvi that cause this:

Currently Kile depends on several packages coming from tetex. However, with
tetex no longer being mantained and with texlive in universe, I think the
dependencies should be relaxed to allow installation with either texlive or

Still, EUtils is unusable on edgy (probably on dapper as well, as it's a
change of NCBI's DTD as I said). I'd suggest backporting the EUtils fix

The EUtils package in the python-biopython package in Ubuntu (still

some commands such as searching in their databases fails. Someone had
