I just want to point out, that decision to go for XFCE without checking out
current (4.7) KDE is not a most sensible one. Linus gave up KDE 4 because the
development 4.0 version was picked up as a stable one by so many distributions.
4.0 was never supposed to be released into the wild. This

After upgrading to oneiric (fresh install) NetworkManager was unable to connect
to my WIFI network with SSID 42. Security is configured to WPA PSK.
In natty this was no problem. In oneiric NetworkManager keeps asking for PSK.

and it seems that upstart can't start cups daemon. I run cups via cups -F

This bug affects me aswell. The touchpad works in lightgdm then it stops
working when Unity loads. Worked well with 11.04. Touchpad is well
recognized by kernel (ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad appears in xinput
--list), but is desactivated.

After few tests I see that when I disable gnome-power-manager (by
killing process or disabling it in Startup Programs and restarting)
screen is not freezing. Unfortunately gnome-power-manager is turning off
screen when lid is closed and this will not happen when it's disabled.

ThinkPad T410 (Intel+nVidia graphics) here. Works with Nouveau for
nVidia and with kernel mode-setting disabled for Intel. With KMS
enabled, switching to discrete graphics hard-locks the display. Haven't
been able to use the proprietery nVidia driver for switching.
dmidecode -s
Why didn't I think about in the first place? I prepared a mock-up from
screen shot. I hope this clarifies everything. :)

Radiance looks nice, but I have a feeling it's slight pink icing is made just
because top of the windows has to be distinguished. I have better idea for
that. The window background has this nice shade
