user and try to log back in, I am unable to. I am then also unable to
shutdown the computer.

problem in that the Kubuntu splash screen stays up for ages. As I have

I recently removed the package muon-discover as I was never going to
need it, then I noticed that the system tray icon for muon-notifier was
missing. It took a while to figure out why it was missing, but after
reinstalling muon-discover, it came back.
Steps to Reproduce:
@Björn Michaelsen They are not missing, but the versions of
libkde4be1lo.so and libvclplug_kde4lo.so in 4.2.3-rc2 and rc3 seem to be
the cause of the problem, coping those files from 4.2.1 allows
LibreOffice to run.

and then just copied libvclplug_kde4lo.so from 4.2.1 and it works.

My mistake, LibreOffice 4.2.3 rc3 does not work in Kubuntu 13.10 either,
but copying the 2 files I mentioned earlier also fix it. One thing I
have noticed is that all LibreOffice windows now appear behind the
currently focused window.

Bit of a hack, but I copied libkde4be1lo.so and libvclplug_kde4lo.so
from 4.2.1 into /usr/lib/libreoffice/programs and LibreOffice loads
again.

With gstreamer0.1 Amarok won't start, with gstreamer1.0 Amarok plays,
but I have no audio. VLC seems to work OK.

Amarok wont play music
In my case I could get the start center to launch properly, but nothing
else, but it would work properly by going into Konqueror and opening an
ods or odt file.

I tried using the second method in comment 4, but I still have
akonadi_baloo_indexer running and it means that I have to use KMail on
its own to read email rather that integrated within Kontact.
