Dash consistently takes 5-7 seconds to open the first time after boot,
and 1-2 seconds to open every time after that. This has been the case
since installing 12.10.

Finding this too, in fact it's across the board; Chrome and Firefox
segfault immediately, epiphany at random intervals, movie player
intermittently either at start or a minute or two into a video, other
apps too. Can't get any app to provide more information than
Segmentation fault so struggle to

It seems to be a race condition - restarting unity after boot fixes it.
May be related to bug #500417, which I'm also getting on my system.

Confirmed here. On checking, found unity-place-files and unity-place-
applications were uninstalled, installed them and restarted unity and
found that lenses had returned, but this may have been due to the
restart, which has cleared the problem in the past. These are listed as
Transitional
On my system, the prompt box says Run a command but it won't act on
enter. This seems to be related to Bug #872219, as it only happens when
the Apps lens is missing. When the Apps lens is present, it will allow a
command, even if it's not an application found in the search.

This seems incredibly fundamental to managing a music library - I just
switched from Rhythmbox to Banshee and love everything except this
oversight!
