In 10.04 I didn't had to press enter to boot, since I upgraded to 10.10
I have to. And I didn't find a way in /etc/default/grub to change this.
I found the issue in this area in /etc/grub.d/00_header:

I can confirm that this .orig file was the real reason for the problem ...
after I deleted the file I change the other file back to original and run a
update-grub2... the grub.cfg file was good now... and timeout was back at the
boot!!!

I just found that if I switch firefox to unmaximize and close the window
on the left screen the launcher works again. But I think in the past I
didn't had to do that, however I'm not 100% sure if I not coincidently
always did it like that.

I have a mono application that was developed in 2007 and it worked
(7.10,8.04.8.10,9.04) until I updated to 9.10... now it looks like if there is
a properties (I'm talking about the properties that are created automatically
in Visual Studio)
It looks like if I don't save the properties it will always load the
default... but if I save it only saves to changed properties... the
color is not changing and so it should load the default value... this is
what happens in .net and in earlier versions of mono.

login - and if you start a root console from recovery console: and start X you

desktop... computer froze with black screen and round waiting mouse icon
not longer spinning... thanks to don't zap settings I can not longer
ctrl alt backspace the the system... the only way to recover was to boot

It is not working on my desktop PC (home made), also 8.10 (I did an update
today)... desktop effects are turned off, the graphics card is a on board ATI
Radeon HD 3300 with 8.54.3 driver.
The sudo thing never helped me before...

But we could also have two alphabets (true type font files) in English;
one with all 26 letters and one without, lets say, 5 letters. By default
we install only the 21 letter alphabet. Now we save some HD space. Most
intelligent people will still be able to guess most of the text files
they read.
Freepats is not complete, there are sound files missing and it don't
sound so good anyway. But there is a solution: timidi+fluid. If fluid is
to large, maybe fluid could at least be used to complete freepats.

If you can't play midi files and you get something like this:
libWildMidi(WM_BufferFile:629): ERROR Unable to stat
/usr/share/midi/freepats/Tone_000/000_Acoustic_Grand_Piano.pat (No such file or
