Title:
I had this problem. Same idea: after setting up a printer, the System
Settings module no longer works.
It seems repeatable: I purged all the cups* packages (which removed the
printer I'd just set up). The Printer Configuration module worked again,
and I was able to set up the printer again. Once
This also effects me. Other menu is there when first logged in, but
then will randomly disappear at some later point.
I am not using compiz, I am using xcompmgr however.

Er... should keximdb be removed from the archive now?
I have a feeling that code got moved into KOffice itself

Can you explain what steps you took to try to import the database?
One thing you might want to try is using the 'Compact Database' option
in Access, and then trying to import into Kexi again.
Also, would you be able to provide a copy of the database you are trying

Added the upstream bug number to this BR.
There's a patch on the Freedesktop Bugzilla, but I haven't tested it (yet).
It's not clear to me whether it's actually been applied upstream...

I have the same problem in a clean installation of Kubuntu Edgy (although my

In particular, I can also get around the problem by restarting the X server
