Based on the comments here it seems likely that this will solve the
problem for me on my Dell Vostro 3300 laptop. However, I am not familar
with what exactly I need to do. I am guessing that from Seth's link I
need to down the appropriate header and image deb (in my case it would

Is this going to be fixed for Ubuntu 11.10? It seems odd that the main
software suite, for some, in Ubuntu should be dysfunctional. I have

Many thanks: incredibly helpful! I have managed to put New Window under
the View menu. I can't find the SplitWindow or Freeze Window anywhere

I have this problem with Ubuntu 10.4 and Nautilus (but note that on the
same machine I have Dolphin installed, and that does not have duplicate
