I should probably say that I don't own T60, I have HP nc8430 with ATI x1600. The thing is that I put the following lines to the Screen section of xorg.conf: DefaultDepth 24 SubSection Display Modes 1680x1050 EndSubSection Modes have to be those of your system (1440x900). This worked perfectly
