In that case, it's certainly the case that it's not installed in a
minimal install. I've come across this more than once.

Thanks for getting back to me. I have never heard of gnome-remote-
desktop before. Installing it cures the issue that I've been having.
Yes, I meant the minimal install from ubiquity.
I would consider this lack of knowledge on my part but I will update the
