Upgraded on a custom build computer from 14.10 to 15.04. sudo showkey
doesn't show any function of those keys after upgrade... meaning that I
cannot even map a custom command to them. They simply do not have any
function currently.
My Keyboard is a Logitech Wireless Keyboard / Trackpad in one.

James, the reason I was running the unity-2d-shell from the command line
is because the unity bar did not reappear after I installed the
--proposed version. I did reboot after install. Where do you specify
the gnome-session in the NX login?

I am having the same problem. I was running 11.10 via NX. I upgraded to 12.04
and now unity crashes. I installed unity-2d from the precise-proposed archive
but when I run /usr/bin/unity-2d-shell, I get unity-2d-shell: [FATAL] ASSERT:
m_barrier != 0 in file

I would like to confirm this issue. I completed the upgrade freom 9.10
to 10.4 this morning and had exactly the same issue. Also booting from
livecd, screen blanks and I never get to the install option screen.
model is Dell D505 with 1GB Ram and 60Gb HDD
