[Bug 223783] Re: SoX was compiled without MP3 encoding support

2010-06-17 Thread Michael Hipp
I guess I don't understand this comment: I can't distribute sox binaries with mp3 encoding support compiled in at least in Debian main. I presume this refers to the non-free mp3 encoder. But just removing the configure switch '--disable-lame' does not cause the sox binary to include any non-free

[Bug 374506] [NEW] Sox has lame disabled

2009-05-10 Thread Michael Hipp
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: sox I don't understand why the sox package has '--disable-lame' in the debian/rules file. This makes it impossible to enable mp3 writing in sox without rebuilding the package. Removing this build option does not, per se, enable any mp3 capability in sox.

Colin, your note reminded me that I hadn't replied to this. I apologize. The machine is running Hardy desktop. Here's the output of 'sudo lspci -vvnn'. Let me know if you need more or need me to test something. 00:00.0 RAM memory [0500]: nVidia Corporation C51 Host Bridge [10de:02f1] (rev a2)

Thanks. But now it seems this system will not run the desktop live CD. (I know I tried it once before per my comments above.) It dies to BusyBox with no error message. Any ideas? This system currently runs 8.04 desktop and W2k. I could post the output from 8.04 if that would help. -- Intrepid

I can confirm the fix works (this on an Alltel 3G/EVDO network with WinXP as a router - don't laugh). The problem had been consistent and repeatable before. Good work Colin and anyone else that helped. Could you let us know when the fix has made it into an iso so we can test a fresh install? --

[Bug 278176] Re: Intrepid ubuntu server won't boot RAID1

2008-10-23 Thread Michael Hipp
Well, I seemed to have solved the issue, sort of. Turns out (going from a clue given by the drop to BusyBox) I added rootdelay=40 to my grub kernel line. It now boots reliably. So my kernel line in /boot/grub/menu.lst now looks something like this: kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.27-4-server
