What I think Mark is saying is that this does not work well inside the
quicklist, and I agree with that. But that doesn mean that you can't
have your cake and eat it too.
All that is needed would be a small tool to manage/edit/create .desktop

Thanks for confirming this. We need something to go on before we can
proceed with this issue though. Here's what you can do to help:
First install the needed debugging packages:
sudo apt-get install gdb python-dbg libxapian22-dbg
Then when you see the issue drop to a terminal:
pgrep -f zeit
I've seen similar behavior when the USB signal was bad. Often because of
long cords (a general notorious usb problem), bad cords, buggy adapters,
or underpowered usb hubs. But this is a general problem, not Unity
related.
Although it would be highly odd if this only manifested itself in
Unity3d...
Let me chime in here, as apps lens maintainer who did this original
behavior, although I don't make calls for design.
The current behavior is very much intentional for many reasons.
1) I am quite sure that 99.9% of the non-geeks in my social circles
would be utterly confused about the perceived

The attached branch fixes this. I tested this with FTP and SSH shares.
FTP works well, but it seems that SSH mounts doesn't play nicely except
for the very first (auto) mount. If you eject an SSH mount it's having
trouble auto-remounting. This may only be for me though, because ~mhr3

For the record; i don't think that a file you 'touch' should show up in
the files lens. That said I acknowledge that there are files which would
be sensible to show that we don't show. This is the topic of bug
