I have the same problem on my Acer L100 which has the same integrated
graphics card.
The cursor disappears when you log out of a user name and back to gdm.
Also the whole log in gdm screen moves with the cursor so the log in box
will move around the screen.

I have not been able to get katapult to work at all since updating.
I have deleted katapultrc and purged the old install and reinstalled
with no joy.
Running katapult from a terminal gives the following message:
X Error: BadDevice, invalid or uninitialized input device 169

What did solve the problem was turning off usplash which has allowed the
system to boot properly.
