It appears that /usr/lib/locale has become a black hole. Doing "ls
/usr/lib/locale/en_AU.utf8" results in a stuck process that cannot be
killed with "kill -9". This is after the installer has finished (which
required killing locale-gen several times) but I have not rebooted at

used the Update Manager to upgrade from Feisty to Gutsy without problems
last night. Tonight I decided to take the next step from Gutsy to
