I'm running 10.10 on a pretty low-power netbook. Often, when I open an
application or do something similarly CPU-intensive, there will be some
lag on media applications that I'm running. In the case of Pulseaudio
applications like Banshee or
I was able to fix this problem by uninstalling Netbeans, removing my
.netbeans directory, and then reinstalling.

I am seeing the same problem, and should add that I also have a

there's not much I can do about that.

I tried the fix suggested here, and it worked. However, it stopped
working when I opened the Change Desktop Background window. I suspect
that that dialog automatically updates the gnome2/backgrounds.xml file
and ruins everything.

Occasionally--I'd say maybe 1/5 of the time--when I turn my laptop on,
it simply fails to start. It goes through GRUB, usplash, and the init
script--it says that it's starting kdm--and then, after the text is
gone, the screen

I have not yet gotten sound working with Rosegarden (it's much more
difficult than Windows counterparts!); however, this is basically
correct.
The only problem is that there are two options.
Timidity is one, and Timidity depends on Freepats, which is a set of

I have this problem too. I'm running a Toshiba A135-S2386, and it's got
a little volume wheel on the front. But that's not the only thing--
changing the volume via the applet in the systray doesn't do anything
either, so it runs completely independently of my system's volume.
