I'm running a Jaunty on that machine, and I don't see that issue. I've been
playing with the configuration, and ran the radeonhd driver for a while, so
that doesn't really say anything about how a newly installed system will
work though.

The first time it had complained about them and was sitting hung up for
a longish while with no CPU or I/O load, at which point I pressed
Ctrl-C.

Actually, I lied. It crashed when I clicked the Mail button to go to the
inbox. It started up in the contacts view.
I installed debugging symbols and launched it again (figured it's about
time since I've had two crashes today). Got some dialog saying it would
hide previews because it crashed last
